Alaco has just returned from the Riga Conference, an annual invitation-only summit which brings together senior politicians, businessmen and academics to address foreign policy and international security issues.
This was the third consecutive year that Alaco has been a participant. Keynote speakers included Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis, Valdis Dombrovkis, Vice President of the European Commission and The Rt Hon. Earl Howe, UK Minister of State for Defence.
One of the key topics discussed this year was the need to improve the western cybersecurity infrastructure across governments, financial institutions and multilateral military bodies. Recent cyber-attacks and data leaks have led politicians in both Europe and America to acknowledge the need to allocate more funding to protecting information.
